Memory requirements
- 4 MB of free memory is needed to create RAR archives in the "Fastest", "Fast" and "Normal" compression modes.
- 6 MB of free memory is needed to create RAR archives in the "Good" and "Best" compression modes.
- Updating of existing archives requires more memory than creating new ones. Exact values depend upon the archive type and size.
- Creating and unpacking of ZIP archives takes less than 1 MB.
Tip: If you create a RAR archive on your desktop computer using WinRAR and know that it will be unpacked on a Pocket PC, it may be reasonable to avoid the "Good" and "Best" compression modes all together.
Another option is to press the "Compression..." button in the "Advanced" part of the WinRAR archiving dialog and then either disable the text compression algorithm or reduce its "Memory to use" parameter to something like 5 - 6 MB.
This will help to reduce the amount of memory requested by Pocket RAR to decompress the archive.
