1. WinRAR 3.90 beta 4 Released!
win.rar GmbH and rarlab.com are proud to announce the fourth beta version of the new WinRAR 3.90. This is yet another step ahead for the most complete archiving software on the market.
** Highlights of the 3.90 beta 4 release:
1. New 'Shutdown' variable in 'Software\WinRAR\Policy' registry key
allows to disable "Turn PC off when done" option for security reasons.
Read "Configuration settings/Registry variables" for more details.
2. Program Compatibility Assistant in Windows 7 will not display
an erroneous "This program might not have installed correctly"
message after closing RAR SFX archives created by this beta.
3. Improved compatibility with high DPI Windows display mode.
4. Bugs fixed:
a) beta 3 did not display archiving commands in context menu
if user selected several archives;
b) beta 3 did not handle 'LongLink' records in TAR archives correctly;
c) recovery record based repair did not work correctly in previous
beta versions;
d) beta 3 could display a folder icon for archived files without
a file extension.

2. What is a beta version?
A beta version, as opposed to a final version, is software that is undergoing its final stages in testing. We release beta versions to our customers so that the final set of bugs can be found and eliminated from WinRAR.

3. How to upgrade your old WinRAR version?
Upgrading is quick and easy. Users only need to download WinRAR 3.90 beta 4 at www.win-rar.com/download.html and install the newest version of WinRAR to continue using the best compression tool around! Please close all open WinRAR archives and exit WinRAR before installing. No complicated uninstalling of the previous version is necessary.
