A New Look for www.win-rar.com

On January 7, 2005, win.rar GmbH launched a new version of www.win-rar.com. The new look came with the implementation of the new win.rar GmbH Corporate Identity (CI). Our old website design was copied over the years, just like many features in WinRAR, and we believe our new design has very innovative, new features that will help promote software. The new website is not only fresh and more appealing but also more functional internally, for our customers and for our partners.
Since a new CI was developed for win.rar GmbH it had to be presented on the company's website as well. The new CI includes changes to the overall look of the WinRAR logo and the addition of watermarks of the book logo. These were added to make blank white space a little more appealing to the eyes. Another noticeable feature is the use of more color overall. The purple, green and blue colors found in the book logo for WinRAR are now used throughout the website. This naturally adds more color and helps make the website more noticeable and inviting to read.
The new website is also more functional for internal use. Typo3, an open source content manager, is being used in order to make managing the new website quicker and easier. Typo3 can handle websites with up to 10000 pages which is important with the increase of information that has been added to www.win-rar.com. Also since the further development of software is important, we are always in favor of supporting such programs.
Visitors of www.win-rar.com also have an added advantage. A search function was added to the new website in order for visitors to be able to find exactly what they are looking for right away. The newest version of WinRAR, the latest news, or answers to technical or sales questions are now only a mouse click away.
Furthermore, our distribution partners also gain from the implementation of the new website. Since WinRAR can be downloaded from all over the world, it was decided to make the new website available in as many different languages as possible. Therefore, win.rar GmbH is teaming up with their distribution partners worldwide in order make www.win-rar.com available in several languages. Typo3 helps make this possible by providing an easy to use content management system for inserting translations section by section. Hopefully in the near future win.rar GmbH will be able to offer visitors the comfort of checking out www.win-rar.com in their native language.
Overall the new website has become more user friendly, more informative and easier for the win.rar GmbH team to maintain. The use of Typo3 and the new CI have given the website the refreshed new look needed to help promote WinRAR in a more professional way.
