1. WinRAR 3.50 beta 1 Released!
win.rar GmbH and rarlab.com are proud to announce the first beta version of the new WinRAR 3.50. Version 3.50 is yet another step ahead for the already most complete archiving software on the market.
Of course, as always, the upgrade to 3.50 is absolutely free for all registered users!
** Highlights of the 3.50 (beta 1) release:
1. Now it is possible to change the look of your WinRAR by installing interface themes. Theme files are available on http://www.rarlab.com/themes.htm
Theme files are RAR archives, just open them in WinRAR to install.
You can manage installed themes using "Options/Themes" menu.
2. WinRAR supports decompression of ZIP archives created using Zip64 format extension. Zip64 was introduced to remove original ZIP format limitations on archived file size.
3. In addition to existing security features WinRAR now offers even more protection for your data. For example WinRAR shell does not allow to run *.pif files. Archived PIF files is one typical way for computer viruses to distribute.
4. WinRAR 3.50 gives you even more cool options for customizing SFX archives.
One option is to replace the default SFX logo by a custom bitmap file.
Then it is now possible to specify user defined SFX icons larger than 32x32 and with any color depth.

2. What is a beta version?
A beta version, as opposed to a final version, is software that is undergoing its final stages in testing. We release beta versions to our customers so that the final set of bugs can be found and eliminated from WinRAR.

3. How to upgrade your old WinRAR version?
Upgrading is quick and easy. Users only need to download WinRAR 3.50 beta 1 at http://www.win-rar.com/download.html and install the newest version of WinRAR to continue using the best compression tool around!
Please close all open WinRAR archives and exit WinRAR before installing.
No complicated uninstalling of the previous version is necessary.
