RARLAB and win.rar GmbH release WinRAR 3.1

WinRAR has been improved once again! Eugene Roshal (Russia) has added many user suggestions to the new release. WinRAR 3.1 has innovative features and best usability results.
As always the upgrade to 3.1 is absolutely free to all registered users. Upgrading is quick and easy. Users only need to download and install the newest version of WinRAR to continue using the best compression tool around! No complicated uninstalling of the previous version is necessary.
Highlights of the 3.1 release:
Convert all different archive formats to RAR or ZIP!
Now it is simple to recompress archives from one format to another in one step. The new "Convert" command can process a single archive or several selected archives at once. It is also possible to select file folders to convert their contents. All supported file types (CAB, ARJ, LZH, TAR, GZ, ACE, UUE, BZ2, JAR, ISO) can be converted into ZIP or RAR with all compression options.
Search your archives for files!
Now it is possible to search for files containing a specified text string either in the opened archive or in selected folders or disks. This command is accessible both in file management and in archive management modes.
It’s easier to repair damaged archives!
With the new “Repair” Command it is possible to select several archives in WinRAR shell and repair them at once. WinRAR can now correct data erasure and insertion errors in RAR archives containing the recovery record. WinRAR attempts to reconstruct both missing and damaged volumes. New progress bar added while reconstructing volumes.
WinRAR offers more options for self-extracting (SFX) archives!
Self-extracting (SFX) archives now provide fully functional HTML support. Earlier versions supported only a limited set of HTML tags. It is also allowed to save the destination path entered by user in Registry and then restore it when executing SFX archive next time.
Supported archive formats improved!
WinRAR is now able to decompress multipart ZIP archives (.zip, .z01, .z02, ...) and to open tar.gz and tar.bz2 archives in one step, so users do not need to unpack .tar manually.
Better compression and more features added!
WinRAR increases compression when adding small text files to already existing archives. Now users can switch between the classic tree style view and flat view and turn the computer off after completing an extracting or compressing operation. New sizes for ZIP-100, CD-650MB and CD-700MB disks are added to predefined values to split archives into volumes.
